Its a beautiful place on a sad day. We went to visit Bald Hill with wonderful views for sunset and I had a moment to reflect and toast to a wonderful lady, Inez Reddicliffe who passed away today. May you rest in peace.
How amazing are these … Palm Cockatoos hanging around the streets of Seisia.
I had the opportunity to hang out with Ray in his new workplace for a day. The day was a trip to Thursday Island and Horn Island from Seisa. I was assured it was going to be a calm day as my seafaring skills are bad, and liken it to “getting sea sick in a bathtub”.
However the calm weather came with pouring rain and no blue skies. I guess I couldn’t have everything. It was a fun day for all, regardless of the rain, however wasn’t a good photo-taking day.
The taxi tour on Thursday Island was in terrential rain, but the guide who called himself a “second generation Thursday Island man, made in China” was amazing and informative on the local history of Thursday Island.
We then went to Horn Island which has incredible history with its part it played during the war.
Then a nice flat trip back to Seisa.
It was a great day even in the pouring rain.

NOT our boat
We haven’t even been here a week. Ray has been doing boat trips to Thursday Island and a fishing trip to see how it all works with the owner, his business and boats. We are staying at Loyalty Beach, which is absolutely beautiful and the people are friendly. Yesterday was his first free day, so we took the opportunity to go for a “drive” up the tip.
We arrived to the tip of Australia, and didn’t do the walk as there was a bus and a few other cars. We didn’t want to fight the crowds, and thankfully we have the luxury of going again at another time.
We did go for a walk along the beach, which was very beautiful. We wandered around a few other spots, found a potential fishing spot and a shady tree for me, and hung out for a few hours. Not much luck on the fishing side, but it was during the heat of the day, but … we know where to go again.
I have been around to a few places putting in my resume, and applying for jobs that are available, so hopefully one of them will come up … but am happy for the wait.
We are off on a new adventure. Packed up our lives into the trusty ole hilux and off we drove. Our destination Seisia. We are currently staying at Loyalty Beach. I’m taking some well deserved time out under a palm tree, while Ray has been on boat to Thursday Island yesterday and fishing today. He has potential boat driving gig for season, and me, I’ll look around for work … But
NOT today. We’re looking forward to exploring the Cape and hanging out here.
